Many parents that are expecting a baby want to know what the gender of the baby will be. Knowing the gender of the baby is useful when you want to start decorating the baby’s room or to buy baby clothes. There are a number of ways to find out the baby’s gender, even at a very early stage!
Doing an ultrasound scan
One of the best known ways to find out the gender of the baby is to have an ultrasound. This ultrasound is usually performed between the 18th and 20th week of pregnancy and the most early ultrasound is usually done after the 16th week. The ultrasound technician can see very accurately what the gender of the baby is and this almost never fails to be right. A disadvantage of this way of determining the gender is that you have to be a bit patient, because it takes a while before the ultrasound operator can get a clear picture of the baby. So you have to wait for a little while, but you are assured of a clear and reliable result.
Peekaboo gender test
If you are too curious and want to know the gender of the baby at an earlier stage, you can go for the Peekaboo test. This gender test can already be done after 7 weeks of pregnancy and thus at a very early stage. The advantage of this test is therefore that it can be taken much earlier than an ultrasound. The results of this test are determined by looking at DNA. A small blood sample is taken from the mother and from there it is determined whether a Y chromosome is present or not. The experts of the Peekaboo test can then tell whether the baby is a boy or a girl. You can expect a 99.5% reliability from this test, which is very high! In addition, this test is completely safe for the mother and for the baby.
A CVS test can also determine the sex of the baby. This test is usually only taken in situations where it is predicted that the baby may have a genetic disorder or a chromosomal abnormality and therefore test is usually just reserved for that. Still, this test can tell you whether the baby will be a boy or a girl, but that’s not necessarily what the test is for. So a better option is to get an ultrasound or have the Peekaboo test done.
